One of our favorite Okinawan pop duos, i-Dushi, went on hiatus at the end of last year after a tumultuous two years due to the pandemic and one of the things the artist formerly known as Kaanaa did was change her name to Kanae (which is her real name) to begin life as a solo artist. Since then, she held a Ryukyu classical music concert last month at Fukushūen (she holds a teacher’s certificate with Afuso-ryu) and released a few digital singles. We’re also seeing her play the ukulele more often and it’s something we’ve seen her dabble with during the pandemic.
The image above is a promotion for her song “Hadashi no Summer Day!! Feat. Tamae” (Tamae is her little sister) which she released back in August. Enjoy the music video for the song down below and let’s all support Kanae!
