Actress/singer Kuninaka Ryoko (“Churasan” series) will be starring in the 2024 NHK Taiga Drama “Hikaru Kimi e” which tells the story of Murasaki Shikibu (author of the “The Tale of Genji”). Kuninaka will be playing the role of Shikibu’s mother, Chihaya, and as amazing as it sounds, it’ll be her first appearance in a taiga drama. She follows a string of actresses from Okinawa who appeared in recent taiga dramas including Toma Ami (2023’s “Dousuru Ieyasu” as Kamehime) and Aragaki Yui (2022’s “Kamakura-dono no Jūsan-nin” as Yae). We’ll be watching and cheering for her when she appears on screen 📣
