Nema Ui’s Okinawa Support Album “Ui ❤️ Okinawa” 10/20

Our favorite VTuber Nema Ui will be releasing her first Okinawa Support mini album (EP?) “Ui ❤️ Okinawa” on 10/20! The album will feature the two singles she released this year and also include four additional tracks (one of them is a cover of everyone’s favorite anthem “Dynamic Ryukyu”). A physical CD is currently being sold on Ui’s website so we’re hoping a digital version will follow.

10,000 Eisaa Dancers Online in Virtual Okinawa

Due to the pandemic, most of this year’s eisaa festivities (there were still smaller, downsized local ones here and there) have been canceled. To make up for it, there was a limited time YouTube VOD of the fantastic film “Eisaa Don Don” (extended to 9/30!), a rebroadcast of the Campus Records x Matsuda Kazutoshi’s 2020 eisaa festival, and now we have Virtual Okinawa’s 10,000 eisaa dancers emceed by our favorite VTuber Nema Ui! While it was live-streamed on 9/4 (Uchinaa time), it’s available as an archive for now. Oh, and it’s around 5 and a half hours long!

Nema Ui’s New Single “Aoao”

via Twitter

Following last month’s release of her single “Umi Watari” (which is still in our heavy rotation playlist), VTuber Nema Ui announced a new single called “Aoao” (8/2 release date). The song is composed by HY’s guitarist/vocalist Shinzato Hideyuki so we’re sure it’ll be amazing.

In addition to the release of “Aoao”, Ui is also celebrating reaching 60K subs on her YouTube channel!

When the single was first announced on Nema Ui’s Twitter, it was only available domestically 😿 and with a new tweet it’s now available to international fans too! 😻 Needless to day, it’s on 🔂 all-day for me and hopefully they’ll embed lyrics for it on Apple Music so we can singalong.

It was also recently revealed that the song will be a collaboration with Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko for the 10,000 Eisa Dancers Parade (一万人エイサー).

Okinawa VTuber Nema Ui

If you’re into cute culture you’ll definitely want to check out the Okinawa VTuber Nema Ui. If you’re not familiar with what a VTuber (Virtual YouTuber) is, here’s an English example from Wikipedia:

… an online entertainer who uses a virtual avatar generated using computer graphics. A growing trend that originated in Japan in the mid-2010s, a majority of VTubers are Japanese-speaking YouTubers or live streamers who use anime-inspired avatar designs.

Ui is very active on Twitter and you’ll find many of her followers submitting pretty amazing fan art. She’s so popular that her merchandise is sold at the Kokusai-dori Don Quijote store! She usually posts a video once a week and often uses a few Uchinaa-guchi words in her dialogue.
